Session on “Misleading Advertisement”

A session on “Misleading Advertisement” for the students of Consumer Forum Association was conducted on January 18, 2023 by Mrs. Vinoda V Nayak, Assistant Professor, Canara College of Mangalore. The primary objectives of the session were to comprehend the conceptual underpinnings of deceptive advertising and to raise consumer awareness of this issue. She discussed the various forms of deceptive advertising and its effects on consumers in her presentation. The main subject of discussion in this article was women’s merchandise, specifically fair and lovely, buy one get one free, and internet shopping.

She also noted how consumers are adversely influenced by deceptive and false advertising on a global scale, as well as how using these phony products that are supposed to be helpful causes them to contract various ailments and suffer severely.

She gave a brief overview of the different regulations that govern and regulate such commercials. She said in her closing remarks that we should see commercials favorably and choose the correct items, so defending consumer rights and avoiding consumer exploitation. There were 15 students present for the session.
