Session on “Misleading Advertisement”

A session on “Misleading Advertisement” for the students of Consumer Forum Association was conducted on July 7,2022 by Mrs. Vinoda V Nayak, Assistant Professor, Canara College, Mangalore. The main objective of the session was to understand the conceptual framework of misleading advertisement and to create awareness to the consumers regarding misleading advertisement. In her presentation, she mentioned the different types of misleading advertisements and its impact on the consumers. The key point of this discussion was on women products such as fair and lovely, buy one get one free, online shopping etc.

She also mentioned that misleading and false advertisements have an adverse effect on customers globally and also, they get affected badly by utilizing these fake products which are conveyed to them as useful.

She briefed on the various laws that guide and control such advertisements. She concluded her presentation by saying that advertisements should be taken in a positive way and that one should make right choice of the products, hereby, protecting consumer rights and prevention of consumer exploitation. The session was attended by 22 students.
