With the motto “Where budding entrepreneurs and future managers meet”, the inauguration and first meet of CAN BBA Gavel Club was held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the College Seminar Hall. The theme chosen for the first meet was “Professionalism in all spheres of life”. The presiding officer, Prof. Pushpalatha, Head, Dept. of BBA was the chief guest who inaugurated the CAN BBA Gavel Club and declared the Club meet open.
The following were the key roles played by different functionaries for the day – Toastmaster, Pre-prepared Speakers, Pre-prepared Speech Evaluator, Table Topic Master, Table Topic Speakers, Table Topic Speech Evaluator, Grammarian, Ah Counter, Word Master, Message Master, Timer, Overall General Evaluator.
Ms. Disha Shetty of III BBA, was the Toastmaster for the evening. The Club meet began with invocation. After her words of welcome, she called upon Ms. Latchiya Priya of II BBA to introduce the word for the day. Earnest was the word introduced and was expected to use throughout the speeches. Key functionaries were then introduced by the toastmaster.It was then time to hear the Pre-prepared speakers who were ready to present their speeches. Ms. Anusree Valsaraj of II BBA and Ms. Vatsala K. Patil of I BBA were the pre-prepared speakers for the day. Mr. Vaishno Prasad N. of II BBA evaluated the Pre-prepared speakers and gave his constructive inputs.
Followed by the pre-prepared speeches were Topic Speeches. Ms. Disha the toastmaster introduced table topic master Mr. Nithesh Nayak of II BBA, who then took over and briefed the rules and regulations for the Table Topic session. Ms. Panchami of III BBA, Ms. Manvi Mrinal of I BBA, Mr. Karthik Paled of I BBA, Mr. Karthik of III BBA and Ms. Vidhya N. Shetty of II BBA were the table topic speakers. They were evaluated by the Table Topic Speech Evaluator Mr. Bhadresh R. Mallya of II BBA.
It was then time to sum up the meet where Timer, Ah Counter, Grammarian came up with their summative report and Mr. B. Amith Prabhu of III BBA the Overall General Evaluator made his general evaluations and also suggested points for the improvement of upcoming meet.
It was then time for the announcement of accolades for the day and were awarded with a winner certificate, a sash and pinned with a golden star.
The following were the winners of first CAN BBA Gavel Club meet.
1. Best Pre-prepared Speaker of the day – Ms. Anusree Valsaraj (II BBA)
2. Best Table Topic Speaker of the day – Ms. Panchami (III BBA)
3. Best Key Functionary of the day – Mr. Amith Prabhu (III BBA)
The Co-presiding Officer, Faculty Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan gave an overall review and Presiding Officer Prof. Pushpalatha, Head, Dept. of BBA, delivered her presidential remarks. The evening came to an end with vote of thanks proposed by the toastmaster Ms. Disha and the meet was adjourned.
Outcome of the Activity :
The Gavel meet so convened strived to accomplish its said objectives and it led the participants to develop more confidence to speak in public gathering and communicate more effectively.
This activity served to achieve the core values of fostering global competency and eliciting quest for excellence amongst the students.
