Seminar on “Right to Information Act, 2005”

A detailed discussion was held on January 21, 2017 regarding filing of RTI and penalty imposed on bureaucrats by the conveners, Ms Vinoda V Nayak and relevant Acts for consumer protection by MsRashmi.The RTI Act was passed in 2005, with an aim to provide effectual access to information for Indian citizens, so that there is accountability and transparency of working of public authority. Under RTI’s provisions, any citizen can request information from the public authority, (instrumentality of state or a body of Government), which is then required to furnish the required information within 30 days or expeditiously.14 students attended the programme.

Students were educated on various statutory rights on the citizens for seeking information from any public authority.
