We got the opportunity to serve to the society by conducting the one day workshop for high school students on July 30, 2016 through our proud alumnus, Mr. Pavan pursuing his Final M.Sc. in Physics at Mangalore University. He watched news telecasted in Daiji World News Channel that, there is only one teacher serving in Government High School at Amblamogaru, a small village near Kutharpadavu and the school children are greedy with proper education. He and his friend started teaching Science and Mathematics for one month during their semester end vacation and they invited basic science and computer science faculty of our college to conduct one day workshop in various subjects.
Five students of Final year B.C.A. Mr. Arjun, Ms. Sowmya, Ms. Rakshitha, Ms. Shreyas and Ms. Akshitha accompanied the two staff members, Mrs. Jayabharathi K.P. and Mrs. Shalaja Kumari, Department of Computer Science, to the school. Workshop was conducted to explain the following topics from the prescribed text books of 8th, 9th and 10th standard batch wise such as
- Basics of computers
- Parts of computers
- Prepare documents in WordPad, Notepad and MS-Word
- MS Paint
- Basics of Internet
Also few physical components were exhibited such as Floppies, Hard Disks, CD Drive, Floppy Drive, Modems, Mother board, NIC, Pen Camera, Key Chain Camera, Pen Drives, Cables etc.
Students and teachers of the school were very grateful to Management, Principal and our Department for arranging the workshop, there by encouraging their students to get deeper understanding on computers.
