An award function commemorating Erya Lakshmi Narayana Alva’s contribution, is awarded annually to distinguished personality in literature.CA S. S. Kamath President of Canara High School Association, Erya Lakshmi Narayan Alva, Dr. K. V. Malini Principal of the college awarded The Erya Prashasthi of 2016 to Dr. Gopalakrishna N. Bhat former Principal, retired Sanskrit teacher, an eminent scholar in Sanskrit who addressed the gathering and said literature is the only source to mould the life of human being Dr. Shikaripura Krishna Murthy retired Sanskrit teacher expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests and Mrs. Rekha Devi K. read the Abhinandana Pathra which was handed over to the awardee. 120 students were present in the programme.
It was indeed another feather in the box of Canara College as the award was given to its own retired faculty.
