Sports Injury and First Aid

Department of Physical Education, Canara College, Mangalore, in association with Sports Association conducted a guest lecture on Sports Injury on September 11, 2019 at college seminar hall. Mr. Naresh Kumar Shahi, First Aid superintendent, NMPT, Mangalore was the resource person.in his lecture he said that, “the most common sports injuries are strains and sprains. Sometimes preventing common sports injuries is beyond our control, but many times sports injuries are preventable.” In his presentation he highlighted the seven most common sports injuries and said, “A few injuries we bring on because we are not conditioned for the activity. Getting warmed up increases blood flow to the muscles, makes athletes more flexible and could decrease their injuries.”  He advised students to do 30-45 minutes workout every day to stay fit. College Principal Dr. Malini K V presided over the function. Physical Director Mr. Avinash and sports association co convener Mr. Pramod Kumar P S were present on the occasion. 30 students of Sports and games association participated in this programme.
