Inaugural Ceremony
The Physical education department organized a University level intercollegiate Badminton Tournament for men and women was held from August 27 – 29, 2018 at U S Mallya Indoor Stadium, Mangaluru.The three days programme was inaugurated by Dr. Kishor Kumar CK, Vice-chancellor (acting) of Mangalore University.Dr. Kishor Kumar appreciated and congratulated the organizers as well as the participants for their active involvement.
The Chief guest of the programme Mr. Venugopal Nonda, President of physical education directors association of Mangalore University spoke on the significance of Sports and Games in life. Dr. K.V Malini, Principal, Canara College, Mangaluru presided over the function.
Dr. Premalatha V, IQAC Cordinator welcomed the gathering.Mr. Avinash, Physical Education Director proposed vote of thanks.Ms. Raksha Acharya, Asst. Professor, Dept of commerce, compered the programme.
Valedictory ceremony:
Valedictory ceremony was held on August 29, 2018 in the evening at US Mallya indoor stadium, Mangaluru. Mr. Basthi Purushotham shenoy, governing body member of Canara high school association was the chief guest of the ceremony. Dr. K.V Malini , Principal of Canara College presided over the function. Mr. Ramesh, Asst. director of Physical Education Mangalore University and observer of the tournament were present during the function.32 men and 20 womens team participated in the tournament.
In men section, Alva’s college Moodabidre secured First place and SDM College, Ujire secured Second place Third place is bagged by St. Aloysius College Mangalore and Alvas college of Physical education secured fourth place.In women’s section St. Aloysius College secured First place, second place is bagged by Dr. G Shankar womens First Grade College,Ajjarakadu, Udupi.Third place bagged by SDM College Ujire Also fourth place secured by Dr. B B Hegde first grade college, Kundapur.
Ms. Keerthi, Asst.Professor, Dept of mathematics welcomed the gathering, Mr. Avinash, Physical Education Director proposed vote of thanks. Mrs. Dhanya shree, Asst. Professor, Dept of management, compered the programme.
