Raksha Bandhan

Multi Lingual Club, under the aegis of Canara College, Mangaluru, celebrated Raksha Bandhan, with fervor and gaiety at Govt. Model Higher Primary School, Mangaluru on August 29, 2018.

Dr. Shanthala Vishwas, Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit, Canara College, Mangaluru was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion Dr Vishwas said, “Raksha Bandhan signifies the bond between brother and sister. Rakhi celebration is an epitome of peace and faith that binds people and a celebration of brotherhood and respect for humankind. Earlier it was a ritual that was meant only for siblings; Today Raksha Bandhan has crossed boundaries and now people tie Rakhis to their colleagues, classmates, neighbours as a symbol of peace and protection.”

School students tied the sacred ‘Rakhi’ string on Members of multi lingual club and prayed for their long life. In return, members distributed the sweets to the school children.

Ms. Meera M, Headmistress, Govt. Model Higher Primary School, Mannagudda, presided over the function. Prof. Vani, Convenor of Multi Lingual Club, Co-Convenors Prof. Thara Kumari, Prof. Sujatha Nayak, Prof. Savita and student members of Multi Lingual Club and hundreds of students participated in the celebrations.
