A workshop was organised on ‘Leave Trading System’ by the Internal Quality Assuranc Cell, Canara College, Mangaluru on 12th April, 2017.
The workshop was inaugurated by Sri. Basti Purushotham Shenoy, Correspondent, Canara Higher Primary School. In his inaugural address, Sri. Basti Purushotham Shenoy, congratulated the college for organising the workshop. He also gave a piece of advice to the teachers to retrospect the reasons for the student absenteeism and find a solution for the same. He said that absenteeism is a major problem of all higher educational institutions and students who miss classes are likely to lag behind in academics as well.
Prof. Steevan Robert Tellis, Srinivas Institute of Technology was the Guest of Honour and shared his experience in introducing the Leave Trading System in MBA department. He also explained the mechanism of implementing the system and how it helped to reduce student absenteeism.
Dr. K.V. Malini, Principal, Canara College, wished good luck and congratulated the staff for organising the workshop. Sri. M. Ranganath Bhat, Honorary Secretary, C.H.S Association, was present as the Guest of Honour on the occasion.Dr. Shanthala Vishwas, HOD, Department of Sanskrit, invoked the blessings of the almighty through prayer. Ms. Raksha Acharya, Lecturer, introduced the guests to the gathering. Dr. Manohar S. Joishi, Vice Principal & IQAC Coordinator, welcomed the guests and the gathering. Mrs.Premalatha V. IQAC Coordinator, proposed the Vote of Thanks. Ms. Sandhya Bhandary Compeered the formal function.
Dr. Radhakrishna Sharma, Professor, JKSH Institute of Management, Nitte and Ideator of Leave Trading System, conducted the workshop and said that Leave Trading System is the most effective method which can be used to reduce the absenteeism of students in colleges in an automatic manner using market mechanism. At present all the colleges using age old methods to reduce absenteeism and are fighting a losing war against absenteeism. He enlightened the various benefits of leave trading system how it could be used to transform the students.
