“Basic Science Lab” For High School Students – 2016-17

Extension activity on “Basic Science Lab” for High School Students was conducted by Basic Sciences Departments in their respective labs on August 11, 2016. In the Botany Lab III BZC Students demonstrated the Physiology Experiments connected with Photosynthesis, Respiration and Fermentation; Bio-Technology Experiments related to Tissue Culture, Anatomy and Primitive plants slides and Taxonomical characters of the plantsunder the guidance of Dr.M.S.Joishi Kumble, Head of the Department of Botany and Ms. Madhushree, Assistant professor. 25 students of III BZC participated in the activity. They also explained processes of Fermentation; Tissue Culture, Pollination, Fertilization, Morphology and Cell Division through Power Point Presentation and Video. Here the students explained the Topics mentioned in the High School Syllabus with additional and recent information.

At the end, Head of the Department of Botany Dr.M.S.Joishi Kumble interacted with the students and made them to understand the importance of Basic Science and future career in Basic Sciences. Totally the Department of Botany created awareness in the visited students regarding basic science. Nearly 100 students and 10 teachers participated in this programme from Ten High Schools.  These activities help our students and also high school students to develop skills in Modern Technology and to gain recent information.
